So far, most of our operating costs are out of our own pockets (well, Ben’s actually). We do have one micro-grant under our belt from our Open Data Day 2021 contribution, and while the $300 was great, it only covered a month of operation. So, like many other creators of the day, we’ve created a Buy Me A Coffee campaign. We’ve set up a few levels of rewards and offerings in order to validate our asking for your monetary support. Any bit helps, and we’ve done our best to offer you some goods and services in exchange for your contribution.
Our platform is built on open-source knowledge. We work from existing databases, and open-sourced information whenever possible. The rest is sourced through research and human contribution (people like you). That said, we can use all the help we can get. If you have a few spare minutes to fill out some attributes on a plant profile, or add a missing plant, or even upload an image or two of your own, this would be a massive contribution to the community.
Spread the word! Share a post with a group you’re a part of or simply tell a friend about Permapeople. Better yet, add some of your seeds to the open marketplace and get trading!
