New Mexico, USA
One of the more drought and heat tolerant echinaceas. Native to dry prairies from Canada down to New Mexico. Short, cute echinacea makes nice bunches of flowers in cultivation. Very attractive to butterflies. Seed require cold-stratification to sprout.
Grown in the hot high desert SW, zone 8a, in marginally improved, very sandy clay using permaculture and organic, low-nitrogen methods.
