TL;DR — you have full responsibility and control over your data.
We are against the use of trackers and how companies employ these to collect data. This is not the data and information culture that we support. We support this Data Commons Manifesto, but understand there’s a long ways to make it into reality.
We strive to collect as little personal/user-related data as possible. Aside from the essential data required to run permapeople.org, we are not collecting additional user or tracking data.
This is also why we do not have a cookie consent screen, since we only use a technically required cookie when you log in.
Any data you share with us, or that you contribute to permapeople.org (e.g. account details, settings, code, content, plant information)—you have full responsibility and control to add, modify, create, share and delete this data under the Creative Commons license mentioned in the footer of every page.
If some data cannot be modified, and you would like to make an edit, please let us know at hello@permapeople.org.
If you wish to delete your data from our website, send us an hello@permapeople.org. We will try our best to remove it from our servers within a week of your request, and alert you once completed.
Server log files can contain client IP addresses and user agent strings from connecting computers. These log files are automated to be destroyed within a period of time through the services we use. See “Data Policies of services used” below.
We only have one mailing list, which is intended for community updates. We are currently using Mailchimp to disseminate these occasional newsletters. Please use the unsubscribe button to remove your data from our list, and if you need any further help, please reach out to us.

When technically possible, our services are hosted on servers in Germany, where personal data is regulated by the GDPR and the Federal Data Protection Act.
If you have any additional questions that isn’t addressed in any of the above sections, you can reach out to us at hello@permapeople.org or send us a message on Twitter/Discord.
