Solanum nigrum is a native plant that is found in North America. Also known as the deadly nightshade, which is a misleading name, as the berries when fully ripe and purple black are totally safe to eat for humans and animals. Birds find them as a great seasonal treat! Humans most often make these berries into jellies. Just do not eat the unripe berries or the foliage of the plant! Super easy to grow it will come back year after year from self seeding. This is the black wild variety but they can come in other colors when ripe such as orange, green, and white. There are some improved varieties out there too one of which is known as wonder berry. A great plant for food forest and permaculture applications and or just some forage for native animals expressly birds. This listing is for your choice of seed count!
