New Mexico, USA
Wonderful, flavorful and medicinal tea, jam and salad herb originating in Africa. Also called “Florida Cranberry” for the strong resemblance in taste. Highly ornamental plants require space, but attract loads of sulfur and other butterflies and pollinators.
Original seed source: Southern Exposure Seed Exchange. Their most northern adapted variety - but still a very equilateral, hot climate plant. Produced very well in our SW New Mexico location which averages 186 frost free days.
Grown in the hot high desert SW, zone 8a, in marginally improved, very sandy clay using permaculture and organic, low-nitrogen methods.
