Ben's garden journal

This is a surprising turn of events! After all the grass died down for autumn, I could spot the left over onions which made it, so I pulled whatever I could found and some got to a decent size.

This is also a sign that Onions can survive without weeding around them :)

Plants

I was too late when cutting the grass for mulching. Seeds were viable already and took over everything. Also right after planting the onions, there have been some weeks of drought which did not help.

Planted 244 onions yesterday and today.

4x20 Sturon, Wood chips from different old stuff, grass clippings

Did not water when planted, instead hoping for rain

THE POTATO EXPERIMENT

I am growing 3 potatoes of each 5 different varieties in one garden bed.

Garlic bed

I used the small bulbs from last years harvest.

Poked holes in the cardboard and added mixed gloves from the three varieties I saved from last year. Covered lightly with compost, covered with half rotten grass clippings.
