Alpine Forget-Me-Not

Myosotis alpestris

Description

The Alpine forget-me-not (Myosotis alpestris) is a small, flowering plant native to the mountainous regions of Europe. It has small, sky-blue flowers with yellow centers, and glossy green leaves. It typically grows to be about 10-15 cm in height and has a spreading, mat-forming habit.

In terms of growing conditions, the Alpine forget-me-not prefers cooler temperatures and moist, well-draining soil. It is winter hardy and can tolerate some shade, but it prefers full sun to partial shade. To cultivate it successfully, a grower may need to provide regular watering during dry spells and apply a balanced fertilizer in the spring.

The Alpine forget-me-not is not edible, but it does provide some value for wildlife. Its flowers are a source of nectar for bees and other pollinators. In addition, the plant is sometimes used in the gardening world for its colorful, ground-covering foliage.
