Description

Fruits are small but highly palatable. Traditionally eaten fresh, dried, and cooked into sweet or savory sauces.

Wild plants prefer disturbed soil. Cultivated by the Zuni and Navajo. Easily grown from seed.

Established plants spread by rhizome into a deep-rooted ground cover. Sometimes considered a weed in industrial agriculture.
