10-12
An easy-growing, humus-loving vegetable plant that is mostly grown for its fruits that can be eaten fresh, cooked or dried in salads and various dishes. There are a great number of cultivars.
Indeterminate tomato plants are perennials in their native habitat, but are cultivated as annuals. Determinate, or bush, plants are annuals that stop growing at a certain height and produce a crop all at once.
An alternate name for the tomato is Lycopersicon esculentum.
